Windows 10 Black Screen after Update: Resolve the Black Screen Problem
Hello everyone, I really hope you will be able to help me. Yesterday I decided to shut down and install updates on my Windows 10 PC, however there was a power outage for a couple of seconds and my computer restarted during the update. After I tried to turn it back on it leads to a black screen and freezes, no cursor or anything even after 30 minutes. I had a look around and checked that it boots from the correct drive it does , but still black screen.
I also tried creating a media recovery tool, went into installation, then repair this computer, but none of the options seem to work.
My main drive is an SSD, not hdd if this is useful. I have some important information, it is not much but it will cost me a lot of time to recreate if I need to reinstall and wipe the drive. Is there any way to fix it. Please let me know if you need any technical information or anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated! As per the description, I understand that after an unexpected shutdown due to power outage while installing the update, your computer went into a no boot state.
I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue. Method 1 :. Disconnect all external devices If any Printer, scanner, camera, or any other USB devices except mouse and keyboard and try to restart your computer. If you are able to boot the computer after disconnecting all external devices, identify the faulty device by connecting them one by one. If the problem persists proceed with the next method.
Then restart your computer. If that doesn’t work then go back to command prompt and then type a command to run check disk which mentioned below. It checks the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical and physical errors. If used without parameters, chkdsk displays only the status of the volume and does not fix any errors.
Disclaimer : While performing check disk on the hard drive, if any bad sectors are found then check disk will try to repair that sector. Any data available on a bad sector might be lost.
System Restore allows you to restore your computer to a previous state quickly and easily without losing any of your files or personal settings. Sometimes when you install programs or drivers, they may affect some of the system settings and prevent other programs from working correctly.
You can use System Restore to revert these settings back to their previous state. Once you are able to boot to normal mode, you may also check in Windows update history for any failed updates and the error codes. Hope this information is helpful, if the issue persist please write us back with the information in brief so that we can assist you further. Was this reply helpful?
